14 years experience

Raj has been involved in Yoga since injuring his spine in 2009. He is a KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga instructor as well as a Founding Member of Yoga Unify.

He is a Sikh, born and raised in Thailand, and has from young been involved in the Dharmic practices of the Sikh and Buddhist faith. His background in Mantra chanting to the Divine Infinite Force from childhood allowed him to embrace and apply the philosophy of Yoga of Dharma, Karma, and Satchya into his life.

Up until 2016, Raj worked as a businessman in his family business. In 2016, he founded the School of Kundalini Yoga, SKY Yoga, in Bangkok, Thailand. Prior to its closure in 2021 due to the uncertainties surrounding Covid-19, SKY Yoga served as a space for community yoga, and invited students and teachers of yoga to use the space to push the boundaries of their practice.

He learned his practices through the Kundalini Yoga world formed by Yogi Bhajan, and also with his teachers, Dr. Ajit of Chandigarh India who is from the lineage of Swami Dhiren Brahamchari as well as his Kundalini Tantra teacher in the late Kirantana (George Craig McMillian) of California, USA.

Coming to yoga from injury and having massive mobility issues meant that Raj had to adapt and learn yoga asana with wide variations in both still postures and movement. Combining his love of hatha and Kundalini Yoga, practicing yoga with Raj is both familiar and also different.

With his unique and varied backgrounds, Raj embodies the principles of Yoga and brings with him the practical applications with depth, practicality, and wide range of perspectives. Yoga philosophy is embedded in the way he chooses to live.

Since moving to Koh Phangan in Thailand, Raj has shared his philosophy and practice of yoga, including Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Hatha Kundalini, Yoga anatomy, Physical and Functional Anatomy, Yoga Philosophy at various schools on the island.
