ASTRID

Yoga Teacher

Astrid’s path began as a self-healing journey, guided by yoga as her anchor for staying healthy, compassionate, and present through the ups and downs of life. While living in ashrams and spiritual communities for many years, she found a teaching “home” in India in 2012, where she taught for five years before returning to Koh Phangan.

She holds over 1,500 hours of Yoga Alliance-certified training, including 500+ hours specializing in Yin Yoga and Functional/Subtle Anatomy. Her fascination with the body’s capacity to heal through a holistic approach led her to explore complementary therapies such as Thai Massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Western science-based psychology.

Astrid has studied extensively with Yin Yoga pioneers like Paul Grilley, Jo Phee, Sarah Powers, and Bernie Clark, continuing to deepen her knowledge of functional and subtle anatomy. Motivated by a strong desire to integrate science, psychotherapy, Ayurveda, and yoga, she completed a 950-hour certification as a Yoga Therapist (IAYT) in 2017.

She teaches with a deeply personal approach, always honoring the uniqueness of each practitioner. Her sessions focus on exploring possibilities together, meeting each body where it is. This attention to individual experience is central to both her group classes and one-to-one yoga therapy work.

Astrid draws continued inspiration from the principle of “alignment from within,” as well as the breath, yogic philosophy, selfless service (Karma Yoga), devotional practice (Bhakti Yoga), and contact improvisation dance.

She has been teaching in yoga teacher trainings for several years and feels grateful for every teacher behind the teacher. At One Yoga, she is honored to have designed and now lead the “Physical & Functional Anatomy and Physiology” module of the 200-hour training.
