Originally from Japan, Akari Tamura is a dedicated yogini and a lifelong seeker of truth, known for her inspirational teaching style rooted in healing, love, and inner empowerment.
Her unique approach touches students around the world, transmitting embodied wisdom from the heart. By integrating the vibrational power of the spiritual heart through Sankalpa (heartfelt intention) and Bhavana (present-moment feeling), Akari holds a sacred space for both the outer practice and the inner journey.
Since 2006, she has immersed herself in traditional Hatha Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hinduism, Jnana Yoga (self-inquiry and meditation), Advaita (non-duality), Tibetan Buddhism, and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. She began teaching internationally in 2013 and has led classes, workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings in Australia, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, India, and across Europe. Her teaching draws from a broad spectrum—asana, pranayama, vinyasa, meditation, Tantra, physical and energy anatomy, mudra, mantra, mythology, and yogic philosophy.
Beyond her work as a yoga teacher, Akari is also a respected Kirtan leader with a classical music background. She views music as a sacred path to liberation—echoing its original purpose in the Vedic tradition. Her broader background includes a degree in sociology, humanitarian work in Africa and Southeast Asia, permaculture design, and training in theta healing, aromatherapy, herbalism, massage, and bodywork.
Akari’s dharma is to help elevate collective consciousness through the practices of yoga, sacred music, deep intention, and inner integration. She embraces both light and shadow as essential aspects of wholeness and invites others to do the same. Her teachings are grounded in the recognition that our deepest relationship is the one between self and the Divine.
To become a channel of light (prana) through the unfolding of the lotus within (the seven chakras) is her highest vision.
